About web.camera
Why this site exists
Webcam spec sheets are marketing. "1080p 30fps" tells you nothing about what a camera delivers on a real desk, in real light, over a real browser stack. We built a test tool that measures instead of promises — and every visitor who rates their camera makes the public picture sharper.
What makes the data different
Every number in the camera database is a median of real measurements taken by this tool: actual negotiated resolution, actually delivered FPS. No manufacturer input, no review samples, no sponsorships influencing scores. Affiliate links, where present, are clearly labeled and never affect data.
Privacy as architecture
The no-upload rule is not a policy choice we could quietly change — it is how the tool is built. Analysis happens in your browser; the server never touches media. Read the privacy policy for the details.
The team
web.camera is built and moderated by a small independent team of web engineers who got tired of buying webcams blind. Say hello via the contact page.
