Webcam effects
Thirty-one live effects on your camera feed, from thermal to digital rain. Flip through them with the arrows, hit Take Photo, Timer Photo or Record Video, and the file saves straight to your device. Your video never leaves this device.

How the webcam effects work
A photo booth that runs entirely in your browser — the effects are computed on your device, and the shot is saved on your device.
When you press Start camera, your browser asks for permission and opens the video stream with the getUserMedia API. Every frame is drawn onto a canvas on this page and transformed pixel by pixel in JavaScript — thermal palettes, VHS colour bleed, kaleidoscope mirroring and the rest are plain maths on the pixels you see, not a filter downloaded from a server.
Because the effects are computed locally, they look the same in Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge, and they keep working offline once the page has loaded. The live preview runs at a reduced size to stay smooth; when you shoot, the current effect is rendered again at the full resolution your camera delivers.
The 3-second timer gives you time to step back or fit a friend into the frame. The finished picture gets a small web.camera mark in the corner and downloads as a PNG straight to your device — on phones it lands in your downloads or photos, depending on the browser.
Record Video captures the effect preview as a video clip of up to 60 seconds using the browser's built-in MediaRecorder. When you press it, the browser asks for the microphone once so the clip has sound; refuse and the clip is simply silent. You can flip through effects while recording. Chrome, Edge and Firefox save WebM; Safari saves MP4.
A few effects — Ghost trails, Infinity tunnel, Time warp, Digital rain, Oil paint, Fire aura and Party — build on previous frames, so they only exist as a moving preview; their shots are taken from the live picture rather than re-rendered.
Nothing here is uploaded, recorded or shared. The page makes no network requests with image data while the booth is running; you can verify that in your browser's developer tools.
Webcam effects — frequently asked questions
Are my photos uploaded or stored anywhere?
No. The camera stream, the effect rendering and the saved picture all stay inside your browser tab. The file is generated on your device and downloaded directly to it — our servers never see a single frame.
Can I use the effects in Zoom, Teams or Google Meet?
Not directly — this page is a photo booth, not a virtual camera driver. It cannot insert itself between your camera and another app. For live call effects you need software such as OBS with its virtual camera, or the built-in filters of the meeting app.
Why is the preview mirrored?
A mirrored preview feels natural, like looking in a mirror, which makes framing easier. The saved picture matches what you see. Toggle Mirror in the toolbar if you prefer the true orientation, for example to keep text readable.
Which browsers and devices are supported?
Any current browser with camera access: Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari on desktop, plus Chrome on Android and Safari on iOS. On phones the front camera is used by default; switch cameras with the picker when more than one is available.
Can I record a video with the effects?
Yes. Press Record Video, perform, press Stop (or let it stop at 60 seconds). The clip is encoded in your browser and downloaded as WebM (Chrome, Edge, Firefox) or MP4 (Safari), with the effect baked in. Sound is included if you allow the microphone when asked.
